In order to prevent moisture and dust, heat shrinkable sleeve protection is also required at the junction of the electrical connector and the cable. The selection of the heat shrinkable sleeve is selected according to the size of the connector of the electrical connector and the outer diameter of the cable. After the outer sleeve of the electrical connector is able to shrink a part of the cable, the length of the retracted cable is generally about twice the outer diameter of the cable. For example, a cable with a diameter of 6 cm, the heat shrinkable sleeve should be able to shrink the cable of about 10 cm.

The heat shrinkable sleeves referred to herein are divided into two broad categories.

The use of the heat shrinkable sleeve should fully consider the size before and after the heat shrinkage, that is, it must be selected to be slightly larger than the size of the package before heat shrinking, and the size after heat shrinking must be smaller than the total outer diameter of the package, so as to ensure heat shrinkage. 当所有芯线焊接完之后,备用线用热缩套管把端头包起来。将尾罩旋紧,顶丝紧固,将电缆表面与压紧环之间用绝缘缠带包裹几层,将芯线屏蔽层或内屏蔽层引出,端头做一个冷轧头,连接在压紧环的一个螺钉上,再将压紧环上两端的螺钉紧固,弹垫压平。尾罩上好之后应与电缆连接紧固,不晃动。将热缩套管缩到不妨碍外螺套旋转的最高位置,另一段要包裹住电缆最少不短于2倍电缆直径的位置。如果电缆直径过细,而电连接器的尾部结构尺寸较大,尾部缩紧了之后还不能把电缆缩住,那么就要加缩一个相对较细的热缩套管在上一个热缩套管的尾部,将其与电缆紧密结合。最后将电缆标识缩在距离热缩套管尾部或电连接器尾部5cm处,热缩时注意将电缆标识有字的一面与电连接器1号的位置保持一致,即在一个水平面上。而且热缩时最好用热风枪从标示的背面吹,这样热缩出来的标示字体不会缩小太多而导致不清晰,不好辨认。

本文中涉及的热缩套管分两大类。

一类用来保护电连接器与电缆连接处用的是内壁带热溶胶的,这种带胶的热缩套管加热后内壁的胶会融化,冷却之后有很好的防潮作用,有一定的硬度。

一类是内壁不带胶的热缩套管,热缩后比较柔软,其中一种是编带型包装的,可打印标记,作为标识套管使用。一种是用来保护电缆标识的透明热缩套管,常常用于标识保护套管。还有一种就是可用来做备用线的端头保护和芯线屏蔽层的端头保护。

热缩套管的使用要充分考虑热缩前后的尺寸,也就是说在选用的时候必须要选热缩前略大于包裹物尺寸,热缩后尺寸必须小于包裹物总外径,这样才能确保热缩套管的使用效果。
